Mahjong Soul Tournament Player Manual

The rules and regulations in this Player Manual are formulated by the Mahjong Soul operations team. To standardize the process of the tournaments, all participating players must agree to abide by the following rules. In the event of any situation that is not predetermined in the Player Manual, the Mahjong Soul operations team reserves the right to make the final decision according to the actual circumstances.

1. Qualifying for tournaments

1) The participant must meet the conditions set for each tournament event, which will be posted on the tournament's official page.

2) The participant must be able to receive and respond to communications from the operations team in a timely manner.

3) The participant must be able to take part in the whole tournament from beginning to end.

4) The participant must understand and follow the rules, both the ones listed in this Player Manual and the ones for the individual tournament event.

5) The participant must not have violated any tournament rules or official Terms of Service regulations of the game in the past.

2. Player nickname & team name

1) Pornographic, politically sensitive, discriminatory, commercial or any other inappropriate content is prohibited in player nicknames and team names.

2) In order to better manage the participants/teams, please do not change the nickname/team name during the tournament (from the beginning of the tournament to the final ranking announcement).

3) If the operations team determines that the player nickname/team name is improper for the tournament event/livestream, they will contact the relevant parties to request a modification of the name, or directly modify it.

3. Tournament preparation

1) After the official announcement of the participant list and the tournament schedule, any participant/team who is unable to attend the tournament matches at the specified time should inform the operations team in advance.

2) Participants must be ready at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the match and confirm their attendance with the operations team on the official tournament Discord channel. If a participant does not show up by the official start of the match, they will be replaced by AI (Easy) or disqualified.

3) If there are cancellations or changes to the tournament schedule due to unavoidable tournament management reasons, we will notify participants in a timely manner via official social media, the official tournament Discord channel, or in-game mail.

4. During the tournament

1) If any troubles occur during the match on the participant's end, players are asked to please inform the operations team as soon as possible. If any problems arise without the operations team being informed, the operations team will make necessary decisions based on the situation, and any offending participant/team may receive corresponding penalties.

2) Participants are fully responsible for their internet connection and availability, and should take measures to avoid disconnection during the matches. If connection/availability issues happen during a match, the participant should apply for a time-out, and then the operations team will pause the match. However, if the time-out goes too long or repeats too many times, affecting other participants and tournament arrangements, the operations team will investigate the situation and decide whether to keep the match going, declare the match invalid, arrange a rematch and whether the participant/team should receive penalties.

3) If a match is interrupted due to unavoidable factors (bugs, server crash, etc.) during the tournament, the operations team will make a judgment based on the actual problems, and the affected match may be declared invalid and a rematch will be arranged.

4) The operations team will inform the participants of the break time in advance according to different tournament matches. If all four participants are ready to go early during the break time after a match, the next match will start in advance. If a participant is still not ready after the end of the break time, AI (Easy) will automatically replace the participant to start the match.

5) If there are any questions about the rules and process of the tournament, the participant or team leader should contact the operations team immediately before continuing. Disputing the results will not be allowed 3 hours after the results of each match are announced. The operations team has the right to investigate finished matches at their discretion.

6) Participants should not dispute official rulings, and if anything happens during a tournament that has no predetermined procedure in the Player Manual, the operations team may set up extra rules regarding the problem.

5. Tournament livestreams

1) During the tournament, all matches may be streamed live by the operations team. By participating in the tournament, participants agree that all contents of the tournament can be streamed officially.

2) There must be a delay of FIVE MINUTES (300 seconds) or more for streaming the tournament matches on participants' personal channels. If a violation is confirmed, the participant will be banned for at least ONE YEAR from participating in official tournaments.
